The Hive
Welcome to The Hive, a revolutionary platform born from the synergy of education and collaboration. In my final two semesters, I along with other students, undertook the challenge of crafting a dynamic website tailored for educators to seamlessly find and share resources.
Picture this: a bustling marketplace where a Grade 11 math teacher can effortlessly post a meticulously prepared lesson on Calculus 1, instantly available for purchase by a fellow teacher facing time constraints.
The Hive aimed to redefine professional learning by offering a seamless and visually intuitive user experience.

The Problem
Independent entrepreneurs often struggle to find a centralized platform for professional development resources. Our client, recognizing this gap, tasked us with creating a solution that not only provided a diverse range of assets but also prioritized user experience and efficient organization.
The solution
The Hive would serve as a hub for industry professionals, incorporating robust design patterns that focused on organization and intuitive search queries.
UX RESEARCH
-
Analyzed existing platforms, especially in the education and professional development space, to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for differentiation.
-
Created detailed user personas representing independent entrepreneurs and industry professionals who would be the primary users of The Hive.
-
Defined their pain points, preferences, and expectations to guide the design process.
-
Explored trends in professional learning and development within the targeted industry.
-
Analyzed the preferences and behaviors of independent entrepreneurs to align the platform with their needs.
-
Mapped out the user journey from initial login to completing a transaction, identifying potential pain points and areas for improvement.
Accomplishments
Note: As a student group on a strict timeline, the team had to reduce the requirement to those of immanent importance.

-
Prioritized a visually appealing and user-friendly interface.
-
Users were able to log in by creating an account or doing so through Google Sign on.
